I picked-up this pair of boots right before Christmas this last winter. I loved the deep red leather and the grey vibram style sole. People seem to comment a lot that they look like Dr. Martin's with cooler soles or like refined red wings-which sound like a good enough descriptions to me.
They started life off easy enough as I spent that week in Palm Springs lounging around and jumping off the roof into a pool.
But, shit got real-fast. In the four months since I've used them almost daily; for work, school, some light hiking and camping, even another weekend back in Palm Springs. I'm impressed that they've held up so well through the rains we've been hit with since December. The inside is lined with really soft leather, with a pair of hiking socks my feet have stayed dry even through big puddles and long walks in the rain. Initially the soles looked a little questionable but have proved pretty rugged and don't look too bad for all I've put them through. The leather has taken a good deal of abuse on the toes and heals. I played soccer in them, used them to skid my bike and climbed a tree, so the boots are definitely sturdy. The tongue area has acquired a nice deep patina from the laces and I really like the way they go with a Ben Sherman or a Fred Perry and Jeans. It reminds me of the mod and skinhead kids I used to get drunk with in jr. high. Now I just have to replace the cheap waxed cotton laces that have already frayed and snapped. I'll post some updated pictures in the next few days.
